Questions people ask first
Do I need a solicitor to write a will?
Not by law, but a will that is drafted or signed wrongly can fail. A fixed-fee will costs less than fixing a home-made one later.
How long does probate take?
Six to twelve months for a typical estate. Property sales, overseas assets or a dispute add time, and we give you a timetable at the start.
What happens if someone dies without a will?
Fixed rules decide who inherits. Unmarried partners and stepchildren get nothing under those rules, which is why a will matters.
